Obituary of Roger Leroy Haymond, Jr.

Roger Leroy Haymond, Jr., age 44, of Rock Cave, WV died unexpectedly while helping neighbors on Monday, January 13, 2025. He was born August 4, 1980, in Buckhannon, WV, a son of the late Roger Haymond and Merle “Cookie” Knicely Walton. On June 19, 2020, he married Lynda Childress of Rock Cave, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Gavin Haymond of Romney, WV and Dakota Haymond of SC; two daughters, Destiny Haymond of SC and Naughtina Wagoner of Buckhannon; two step-sons, Storm Riffle and Jacob Bishop both of Rock Cave; one step-daughter, Shelby Bishop of Charleston, WV; two grandchildren, Kayden Gregory and Delilah Haymond; one brother, Kenneth Warner of Weston, WV; three sisters, Angela Metz and husband Roger of Fairmont, WV, Serena Haymond of IN and Charmin Warner of Rock Cave; mother-in-law, Jean Childress of Rock Cave; special niece, Summer Warner of Queens, WV; special nephew, William Warner, Jr. of Heaston Ridge, WV and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Mr. Haymond was a Christian by faith and a logger by trade. He loved being in the woods, helping others, and spending time with family. Friends will be received for a memorial gathering, Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM with Minister Bill Warner officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
